Chef Douglas Genovese

Originally from Allentown, Pennsylvania, Douglas Genovese has many fond memories of cooking with his Grandmother who insisted that food be prepared from the heart and with attention to detail. Over the course of his teen years he began unknowingly preparing for his future in the culinary industry first working in a small Mediterranean restaurant and later, while getting his Bachelor’s degree, working at a Penn State institution, the Tavern Restaurant.

After graduation, he relocated to Pittsburgh where he obtained a position at The Pittsburgh Golf Club and decided to pursue cooking as his career. Here he progressed from Garde Manger to Executive Sous Chef. He spent two years at the Square Café where he committed to local sourcing by building relationships with purveyors and farms. During his tenure, he staged at various Relais & Chateaux properties. Recently, he was the Executive Chef of Shannopin Country Club where he was responsible for ala carte and banquet services.

Currently, he is employed by Culinaire and is the Executive Chef at the Carnegie Museum Properties.
